Property Portfolio Director

As Property Portfolio Director based in London, Bristol or Birmingham, you will be responsible for building and growing a practice area from an existing property and regeneration portfolio, generating profitable consultancy income and business growth. Acting as a strategic communications consultant and working at the centre of multi-disciplinary and client teams to deliver complex and challenging projects, your counsel to clients and management of campaigns will add social value and build advocacy for projects. You will have the opportunity to create and lead a team managing and mentoring consultants to help them develop their careers and contribute to Copper’s ongoing success.

The role

  • You will build your own practice area to generate profitable consultancy income from new and existing clients by developing and delivering a proactive plan for growth, through a network of relevant contacts and referrals, and by managing all aspects of business development
  • Working at the centre of multi-disciplinary and client teams, you will manage multiple complex and challenging property and regeneration development projects from initiation through to planning and construction
  • A strategic communications consultant, you will devise and deliver impactful, outcome-driven communication strategies – with an emphasis on winning community and political buy-in – which support clients in achieving their goals and deliver social value for communities and stakeholders
  • Providing trusted strategic advice that protects and enhances clients’ reputations, you will be responsible for message development, language and tone of voice
  • You will devise and lead the delivery of media management strategies and manage all aspects of media management
  • You will devise and deliver public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategies to manage relevant political issues and agendas with the aim of securing planning consent, and building a positive lasting legacy
  • Apply fresh thinking and innovation to develop Copper’s offering as the consultancy evolves and scales to ensure it anticipates and exceeds demands
  • Actively develop Copper’s position as a thought leader in the industry
  • Lead, inspire and motivate your project teams to deliver high-quality, outcome-driven work and support them in their individual career development and wellbeing.

About you

  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a proven track record in generating new business, building a portfolio, delivering income and profitability targets
  • A passion for the property and regeneration sector, you are currently working in a consultancy or in-house, and have a track record of developing and delivering communication campaigns for medium to large-scale property development and regeneration projects (housing, mixed use, etc.)
  • Consultancy skill-set with strong interpersonal skills, a strategic thinker and trusted advisor who balances delivery with attention to detail, innovation and achievement
  • Experience of developing and leading stakeholder engagement and consultation programmes for planning applications from pre-application consultation, feedback analysis and preparation of Statements of Community Involvement, managing planning committees and appeals
  • Politically astute with a good working knowledge of the legislation, policy and guidance relating to the TCPA Act 1990 (TCPA)
  • A strong people manager who can manage performance, workloads and budgets whilst nurturing career development and wellbeing.
